Our Story

Coffee moment in a Melbourne laneway café

March 2019

The Laneway

Melbourne's laneways have a way of bringing people together. What started as two strangers reaching for the same flat white at a crowded café counter turned into three hours of conversation, two more coffees, and the beginning of everything. Archie says he fell in love at first laugh. Maddison says she just wanted her coffee.

The Adventure

From weekend road trips to the Yarra Valley to backpacking through Southeast Asia, every adventure felt bigger with each other. They learned to navigate foreign cities, questionable street food, and the occasional wrong turn — all of which, they agree, are better shared. Somewhere between Bali and Byron Bay, they stopped being two people travelling together and became a team.

The Question

On a quiet Sunday morning in their Fitzroy apartment, no grand gesture, no skywriting — just Archie on one knee in the kitchen with his grandmother's ring and the kind of nervous smile that makes your heart break. Maddison said yes before he finished the question. The burnt toast that morning became the best breakfast they'd ever had.

Need to Know

FAQ

What should I wear?

Industrial Chic — think sharp tailoring in muted tones. Textured fabrics like tweed, linen, or velvet are encouraged. Ladies, heels might be tricky on the warehouse floors, so block heels or flats are a smart move.

Where should I park?

There is street parking available along Queens Bridge Street and nearby streets. Wilson Parking at Southbank is a 3-minute walk. We recommend rideshare as Melbourne CBD is easily accessible.

Can I bring a plus-one?

Please refer to your invitation — if your partner or guest was included, their name will be on the RSVP. Due to venue capacity, we kindly ask that only named guests attend.

Will there be dietary options?

Absolutely! Our caterer can accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and most allergy requirements. Please note any dietary needs in your RSVP and we'll make sure you're looked after.

Is the venue accessible?

Yes, The Wool Mill is fully wheelchair accessible with ground-floor entry, accessible restrooms, and level flooring throughout the ceremony and reception spaces.

What about gifts?

Your presence is the greatest gift we could ask for. However, if you'd like to contribute to our honeymoon fund, details will be included with your invitation. No boxed gifts, please — we're running out of shelf space in Fitzroy.
